new Velar P300 sports a 300hp Ingenium Petrol Engine
Land Rover have confirmed that the Range Rover Velar will now be available with a powerful new petrol engine. As we discussed back in April. The Velar P300 is now available to order with a new, more powerful version, of JLR’s Ingenium four cylinder petrol engine.
The 300hp 2.0 litre petrol, produces 400nm of torque and blasts the Velar from 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds. Top speed is 145mph.
The advanced engine which is produced in Land Rover’s engine plant in Wolverhampton. Uses a twin scroll turbocharger with ceramic ball bearings, which reduces friction. Plus a high flow compressor wheel 26% more air to the engine to increase performance.
Fuel consumption is 36.2mpg on the combined cycle (urban 29.7mpg and extra urban 41.1mpg). EU combined co2 emissions are 178g/km.
The Range Rover Velar P300 uses the same ZF 8hp45 8 speed automatic transmission as used in the other four cylinder Velars. The brakes and suspension remain the same as the P250. The weight, amazingly, is only 8kg heavier for the more powerful P300.
Another point to note is the availability of air suspension as an option on the Velar P300. Something that is missing on the less powerful Velar.
